Open Cockpit Day

May 26 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

Free

Registration begins promptly at 9:30am

Flights begin at 10:00am, weather permitting

Flights are first-come first-served, no pre-registration

Open Cockpit Day provides youth ages 8 – 17 the unique opportunity to climb into the cockpit and experience flight from a pilot’s perspective. Airplane rides are free and provided by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 105’s Young Eagles Program. Founded in 1992, the Young Eagles program has dedicated 25 years to giving youth their first ride in an airplane.

While waiting for your child’s flight, explore Pearson Field Education Center’s Open Saturday activities including:

  • View vintage, historic, and modern aircrafts
  • Climb into the cockpit of the T28
  • Try your hand at flying at our flight simulator lab
  • Make a whirli-gig and release it on a vertical wind table
  • Make foam gliders and decorate them with stickers and markers
  • Land a plane on a model aircraft carrier
  • Release foam rockets from a launcher

Please park on the grass lot on 5th Street (south side) between S and U Streets and follow signs to Pearson Field Education Center.

Thank you to our sponsor:
